Today in Saydnaya, all the people are celebrating for the Lady's (Mary) birth.
On the contrary of all the celebrations, only in Saydnaya the celebrations are held at the date of birth, not at the date of death.
This is the celebration of Saydnaya ...

عيد السيدة مريم العذراء
اليوم في صيدنايا, كل الناس تحتفل بعيد السيدة (مريم العذراء) و هو عيد ميلادها
على عكس كل الاحتفالات , فقط في صيدنايا يقام الاحتفال بتاريخ ميلادها و ليس في تاريخ رقادها
هذا هو عيد صيدنايا

صيدنايا القديمة

هذه الصورة القديمة قد اخذت في شتاء سنة 1940 للميلاد . اخذها المرحوم السيد ميشيل ربيع و قد اجرى عليها بعض التعديلات اليدوية حيث لم تكن تقنيات التصوير حديثة و هذه الصورة (على حسب معلوماتي) هي اقدم صورة ملونة لصيدنايا.هذه الصورة هي (نسخة) عن الصورة الاصلية, حيث اخذت الصورة الاصلية من السيد عاطف سابا من قبل شخص (لن اذكر اسمه) على طلب منه ليقوم باخذ نسخ عنها ... و لكن بعد ما يقارب سنتين اعاد النسخة بحجة ان الاصلية قد اتلفت !!!بالطبع تقريبا لم يبق شيء موجود في هذه الصورة في الوقت الحالي سوى دير سيدة صيدنايا .. و بعض الحكايا في زوايا هذه البلدة

This photograph is taken by Mr.Mechiel Rabeh (God rest his soul in peace) in the winter of 1940. and this might be the oldest picture of saydnaya in colors. he made few hand corrections on it as there wasn't any technologies for photography at that time.Of course most (if not all) the houses and places are changed now in Saydnaya, and you can't recognize any thing from this photo, but the Convent of Our Lady Of Saydnaya. and few stories you can find between the corner of this town.

The Post Office in saydnaya ... well I know there is no ice in the Office word ... but at least there is an office in there ... so you might want to send me sth .. lol ..

كنيسة القديس بطرس

صورة اخرى لكنيسة اخرى في صيدنايا .. يعود تاريخ هذه الكنيسة الى ماقبل الميلاد حيث كانت معبداً وثنيا .. لكنها بعد الميلاد اصبحت كنيسة مسيحية.
هذه الكنيسة تبعد فقط حوالي 300 متر من دير سيدة صيدنايا.

Just another photo of another church in Saydnaya .. This church is older than 2007 years ... It was an old temple before .. but then It turned to a church.
This church is Only about 300 m of the Convent of Our Lady of Saydnaya.

It was amazing ... Rain like a waterfalls.
Even in the winter nothing had happened like that, it was awsome but strange at this time of the year.
well this is Saydnaya.
As you Can see I took a pic of the convent of Our Lady from the same place I took the one in the last post.

Another photo Of the Holly Convent Of Our Lady (from the west side) showing the main street in saydnaya .. as you see it is not wide street .. its just a small town .. but getting bigger with time .. its almost going to be a small city ... lots of new modern buildings are going to be built in a short time ...

Strange day in Saydnaya .. it was cool at the morning ... hot at the noon .. and rainy at the evening .. I just took this photo out side .. and came here to post it in this blog.
Its strange to rain at this time from the year .. It used to be nice weather at this time from the year here ... as you can see it in the last post of saind George celebration 4 days ago the sun was shining ..!
but It still amazing weather here ... and the smell is just wonderful ..

احتفالات عيد القديس جاورجيوس في صيدنايا .. 6.4.2007 .. احتفا ضخم يحدث كل سنة في صيدنايا. المئات من الزوار يأتون لهذا المكان المقدس للزيارة, في المكان الذي اخذت فرس القديس جاورجيوس تضرب الصخر بقدمها لتدلل على المكان المقدس هناك الذي هو عبارة عن مغارة صغيرة في الصخر كان يتواجد فيها بعض الرهبان الذين وجدت رفاتهم هناك . و هذه المغارة الصغير قد رسمت ككنيسة منذ فترة حديثة جدا.
كل الناس في صيدنايا تحتفل بهذه المناسبة .. (حتى المسلمون).!!؟

Saint George celebrations in Saydnaya ... 6.5.2007 .. every year a huge celebration accured in saydnaya and lots of people come to visit the holy place where the horse of saint george stroked with its leg in the rocks ... to point to the holly place there .. its a small cafe (now it is offically a church).
All people of Saydnaya celebrate in this ocasion (even the muslims)!.

I took this photo from my house ... It is an old house of course .. and as you see the hens are eating something from the ground ... the old lady who lives there take care of them.
And she make a wonderful wine for sell.
Saydnaya's Old houses are all made like this house.

As you see the huge door contains a small door inside it ... this door haven't been opened at least 20 years ago ... and the Old buildings of Saydnaya are all made from the same rocks that you can see in this picture.
